Ach! Baby, which has recently come to be deciphered as Artistic Collective
of Humanists! Baby, is a broad ranging collective of multimedia artists founded
by Damien Lennon and Jerome Tagher in Paris in 1998. Its principle mission is
to use the Artistic Wedge to create a new, free space for thought and exchange.
Ach! Baby is present in France, Ireland and now the US. Thus far, Ach! Baby has
been incarnated at visual art exhibitions, poetry readings, theatrical performances
and surrealist pop events. Some notable actions in Europe include Art and
Music for Innocent Bystanders, (a three-day installation on the Robec river,
during the Art et Rives festival, in Darenatal, France), Music for vegetables
buying vegetables (a three-hour performance of spontaneous composition at the
Place du Marche, Versailles, France), Art and Music for Birds and Fish, (the
erection of a large temporary shrine to spontaneity in a cove in Cadaques, Spain) and
The invasion of Thomastown, (a five-man invasion of a historical Irish
town). Ach! Baby's most recent US action was in collaboration with
electro-acoustic artist Something_Human and Theater Director Kristina Smith for her
production of Fefu and her Friends at the Culture Project, Bleecker Street, December
2004. Founder-member and representative Damien Lennon is a poet, musician and
the father of Momentism. This is Ach! Baby's first collaboration with Adhesive
Theater.
